For student parents
Your child is moving to Granada - here is how we help
Sending a child abroad to study is exciting and unsettling in equal measure. You want them to have the full experience - and you also want to know there is someone to call if something goes wrong.
HolaGranada gives parents a local, English-speaking point of contact in Granada. We help before the move, at arrival, and on an ongoing basis so that both you and your child have backup when they need it.
The challenges you are probably facing
- Not being able to verify whether accommodation is safe and legitimate from abroad
- Worrying that your child will not know who to turn to if something goes wrong
- Needing a local contact who speaks both English and Spanish
- Being unable to attend appointments, move-in days, or emergencies yourself
- Uncertainty about what Granada is actually like as a place for a young person to live
What we recommend for you
How the process typically looks
Before the move
Accommodation search and verification, scam checks, and area advice so your child starts in the right place.
Arrival day
Move-in accompaniment, orientation, and confirming everything is as described before any deposit dispute arises.
During the year
Monthly support plan active - available by WhatsApp for your child and for you directly.
If something goes wrong
Emergency local support: we go to the property, accompany to appointments, and help resolve problems quickly.
Documents you will typically need
This is a general guide. Your exact requirements will depend on your nationality, visa route, and circumstances. A qualified professional will confirm what applies to you.
- Passport for the student
- University acceptance or enrolment letter
- NIE application documents (we guide your child through this)
- Accommodation contract for review before signing
- Contact details for the accommodation provider
- Emergency contact list including HolaGranada
What can go wrong - and how we help avoid it
- Deposits paid to fraudulent listings that are impossible to recover
- Accommodation problems that a young person on their own does not know how to escalate
- Your child living in an area that is not what was expected - or not appropriate for a student
- A medical or bureaucratic situation arising that requires a Spanish-speaking adult to intervene

In their words
"My daughter's landlord was refusing to fix a serious heating problem mid-winter. I was in Dublin and could not fly out. HolaGranada went to the flat, spoke to the landlord, and had the issue resolved within 48 hours. That monthly fee has already paid for itself."
What we do not do
- We are not a 24-hour emergency service in the way that a medical provider would be - urgent medical situations should go to 112.
- We do not provide legal advice - rental or other disputes requiring legal action are referred to qualified professionals.
- We do not guarantee a specific outcome with landlords or accommodation providers.
Who we refer you to
- University international student offices and welfare teams
- Emergency services: 112 (all emergencies), 061 (medical in Andalucia)
- Rental lawyers and consumer rights advisers for disputes
